Technical Information

As well as being heavy duty and versatile, ANGUTEC multi pivot hinges are easily installed. Importantly, they do not require adjustment or maintenance. Below is all the technical info for your project, however please contact us if we can help further.

Glass Info

Significantly, ANGUTEC® multi pivot hinges can be installed on all glass types.

For example, single layer or laminated toughened/tempered glass can be mounted with either countersunk fittings, clamping plates or bonded fittings.

However, laminated float/annealed glass can only be bonded to a special attachment plate. This is because it cannot be installed with screw fixings of any type. Another option is to bond the panel into a channel extrusion or profile and attach the relevant mechanism to the metal profile.

Regardless of the type of glass used, the ANGUTEC range has all the fittings to suit.

Adjustment

Principle for Pivot Hinges

Above all, ANGUTEC® multi pivot hinges feature an ingenious and unique principle protected by worldwide patents.
Because of this principle, panel alignment is achieved by changing the distance between pivot points. As a result, the hinge geometry varies.
Consequently, there is no need for any lifting or support equipment.
Therefore, with only a spanner or a hex ball nose key a single person can easily align even the largest door panels under full load.

Variable linkages for adjustment

Range

Essentially ANGUTEC® hinges have an unsurpassed range of TRUE 3D adjustment.
Height Range: 12mm
Sideways Range: 12mm
Compression Range: 6mm

Mechanisms

  1. Long Linkage – Compression Adjustment
  2. Short Adjuster Linkage – Sideways Adjustment
  3. Set Screws – Height Adjustment
Mechanisms for adjustment
Set Screws

Essentially these are used to modify the height in all hinge models. In short, two opposing screws hold the height adjustment arm in the required position. As a result, only a standard 4mm Hex Ball Nose Allen Key is needed.

adjustment of hinges with set screws
Turnbuckle Linkage

Importantly the sideways and compression locations of the hinge are adjusted by the left and right handed thread of the turnbuckle linkages. In addition, turnbuckles are adjusted using a simple 11mm Open Ended Spanner.

Adjustment Process & Future Proofing

To start with, the correct height position must be set once the hinges are installed. Firstly, unscrew the uppermost set screw to allow the height adjustment arm to move. Next, turn the lower set screw until the desired height is reached. Lastly, turn the upper set screw down to hold the height adjuster arm in place.

Secondly, the sideways and compression linkages must be manipulated until the panel is aligned. Importantly, when adjusting the length of a linkage there might be a slight crossover effect on the other linkage. As a result, when adjusting the panel compression you may need to compensate for the crossover effect on the sideways linkage.

Job Done!

Future Proofing

Because of the patented principle of ANGUTEC hinges perfect panel alignment is always achieved. On top of this, once adjusted they will not require any further maintenance or adjustment. In short, ANGUTEC hinges are built to last.

Panel Sizes

Significantly. the ANGUTEC range of multi pivot hinges carry panels up to 100kg each.
Not only this, but our detailed charts indicate the maximum possible dimensions of a panel based on the building material used. Essentially panel dimensions must fall on or to the left of the curve.
However, there are limits on the maximum width of panels because of the large torque forces that act on very wide panels.
Furthermore, The charts are based on hinges mounted as a pair vertically and approximately 50mm to 100mm from the top and bottom of the panel. Therefore the blue portion of the curve is derived from the maximum loading of the hinge and the red portion of the curve is based on the width limit. Basically any dimensions within these lines are acceptable.

Frame Mounting Options

ANGUTEC multi pivot hinges are available with three frame mount sizes.

Importantly, the main difference between frame mounts is the spacing or distance between the mounting hole centres. For example, a wider hole spacing produces a better load transfer. Furthermore, this also reduces the forces placed on the actual screw/bolt mountings locations.
Moreover, when hinges are mounted into glass frames it is a requirement to comply with international standards, which includes the minimum distances between glass holes of a specified hole diameter. Consequently, ANGUTEC frame mounts are designed to fully comply with international glass processing regulations and standards.

Door Mounting Options for ANGUTEC pivot hinges

Door Mount D01 – Single Point Fixing

Panel Thickness Range:
6mm to 19mm (thicker panels possible)
Recommended Panel Materials:
Toughened / Tempered Glass Panels

Essentially door mount D01 is designed with a range of single point fixings; countersunk, radiused clamping disc or flat clamping disc.

Importantly, the outside disc diameter complies with the industry standard measurement of 50mm.

In addition, for the countersunk fixing there is an outer acetal bush with an integrated stainless steel insert.

Furthermore, the screws for both the clamping discs and the countersunk fitting are totally concealed by a surface flush tamper proof stainless steel cover.

Door Mount D03 – Key Slot Mounting

Panel Thickness Range:
5mm to 30mm (thicker panels possible)

Recommended Panel Materials:
Glass (toughened/tempered & float/non-tempered), Stone, Metal Panels, Extrusion of Various Shapes

Door Mount D03 features a key slot design. Importantly,  the shoulders of the key shape carry the main forces of panels.  Therefore there is no stress placed on the mounting screws.

As a result, mounting screws simply secure the door mount in place without taking any of the panel weight.

Consequently this door mount is an extremely versatile fitting that can be used with a variety of adapters, including extrusions and bonding plates.

Our bonding plates are made of stainless steel with an accurately dimensioned key slot and two threaded mounting studs/rods. Firstly they are glued to the back of panels. Secondly, the hinge is mounted to the frame sub structure and the panel with the attached bonding plate is bolted to the D03 door mount.

Essentially this two-part assembly design ensures an efficient and safe installation process.

Door Mount D04 – Surface Screw Mounting

Panel Thickness Range:
10mm to 25mm (thicker panels possible)

Recommended Panel Materials:
Stone, Metal, Timber Panels

Specifically, door mount D04 is designed for surface mounting to non-glass panels. Essentially,  the design of this door mount features a protruding ø20mm stem, which is recessed into the panel surface. Because the stem carries the main load of the panels, there is no stress on the actual mounting screws. As a result, the mounting screws simply secure the door mount in place without taking any of the panel weight.

Door Mount D05 – Mortised Insert Mounting

Panel Thickness Range:
31mm to 51mm (thicker panels possible)

Recommended Panel Materials:
Stone, Metal, Timber Panels

Essentially door mount D05 attaches to inserts D50 and D51, which are mortised into the door panel. The result is an easy snap-on 2 part assembly.

Basically the two main parts  (the hinge body and the mortised door insert) are independently installed to the frame and the door respectively. As a result, fitting the door panel to the hinge simply involves sliding the hinge door mount into the mortised door insert. Importantly, the mortised door insert features clearly marked and indexed mounting locations. Therefore all installation types can be achieved with a single fitting, as long as the panel thickness is between 31mm to 51mm.

Significantly, patented load transfer technology ensures that the mounting screws simply secure the door mount in place without having to take any of the panel weight. Above all, this unique feature means heavy and ultra wide doors can be installed easily.

Please note this door mount is only available with frame mount FO3.

Door Installations for ANGUTEC pivot hinges

Inset, overlay and curtain wall installations are easily achieved with ANGUTEC multi pivot hinges. Moreover, there is no need for adapters or variations.

Even thick panels (up to 51mm) can be fitted with minimal gaps creating ultra clean and uncluttered surfaces.
However for overlay installations on glass panels, the standard maximum overlay distance of 20mm applies.
In contrast,  all non-glass panels can achieve larger overlay distances.
